St. Petersburg City Council caught a glimpse on Thursday of what a newly imagined 86 acres might look like without Tropicana Field.
HKS Architects is putting the final touches on a Trop site master plan that includes a new baseball stadium, towering office buildings, acres of new park space, housing, entertainment and retail.
“We want to be able to have a dream,” HKS architect Randy Morton said during a City Council committee meeting. “We also want to make sure when we’re done we have a reality, too.” The entire design, as it’s planned right now, would take anywhere from 10 to 30 years to complete. The vision could start taking shape in as little as a year.
Morton rifled through his team’s plan slide by slide. A stadium would go in the northeast corner of the site along First Avenue South.
