With a career spanning nearly four decades, Dewey has been a pivotal figure in shaping the real estate landscape in the Greater Tampa Bay area and Central Florida. Dewey Mitchell is a third generation real estate professional, commercial property executive, and co-owner of Capstone Tropical Holdings, Inc., which comprises:

Since 1984, Dewey has led one of Tampa Bay’s primary real estate firms, maintaining an active interest in the marketing of commercial, industrial, land, and mixed-use properties. His expertise and dedication to the industry have earned him the prestigious Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by the Commercial Real Estate Institute, an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.
Dewey Mitchell graduated from the University of Alabama in 1979 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce & Business Administration/Marketing. While attending the University of Alabama on a football scholarship, he played under the legendary Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. From Coach Bryant, Mitchell gained the integrity and competitiveness that continue to drive his success today. Mitchell also excelled in Judo, earning 7 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals from various national championships and went on to lead the U.S. Olympic Judo Team, as Captain in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, California.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dewey is a dedicated community leader. He serves on the Board of Trustees for BayCare Health Systems and is the current Vice Chair of Saint Leo University. Dewey also sits on the Board of Directors for the Pasco Economic Development Council, where he served as Chair in 2014. Mitchell is the former Chairman of the Tampa Bay Partnership and served on their Transportation Task Committee. Dewey is a charter office and past President of the Rotary Club of Seven Springs, which established the Odessa Festival & Rodeo. He has served as past President of the West Pasco Board of Realtors, the Pasco County Committee of 100, and the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce.
His commitment extends to various community initiatives, including chairing the Pasco Hernando American Heart Walk and the West Pasco Family YMCA Capital Campaign Committee.
When he’s not transforming the real estate industry, Dewey enjoys exploring Civil War history and spending quality time with his family—his wife Becky, their two children, Derek and Carly, son-in-law James, and grandson Jimmy.
